Who we are
We are the Professional Photographers of Greater New York ( PPGNY ). An organization of professional Photographers dedicated and proud to be able to share all knowledge and experience in order to educated those who seek knowledge in professional photography. All are welcome at all levels.
Our goals are simple: To create, foster, promote, and maintain cordial relations and encourage the exchange of knowledge among members.
As an organization, we’ve been around for more than 50 years. Originally, we were called the Long Island Professional Photographers Association.
We changed our name to Professional Photographers of Greater New York in 1985. That’s when we became one of the 10 sections of the Professional Photographers Society of New York State.
Both PPGNY and PPSNYS are affiliates of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA).
As affiliates, we can conduct meetings, hold image competitions, and issue professional merits. We also adhere to the professional standards and business ethics set forth by the PPA. However, both PPGNY and PPSNYS are independently registered not-for-profit businesses.
